Brief Introduce of Biomedical Materials 2012-12-03
Biomedical material produced by CISRI International Co., Ltd. is a kind of special function material, and it is the base to develop artificial organs and some medical instruments. It can be said to be a kind of new material which is closely linked to people's lives and health.
The development and use of biomedical materials can trace back to 3500 years ago. At that time Egyptian began to use cotton fiber or horse hair to fix wounds, and Indians used wood chip to fix wounded skull. In recent years, with the great develop of organ transplantation, medical community requires on biomedical materials and artificial organs more and more.
As the material to be transplanted into the body, it should not only keep its physical and mechanical properties stable for long term but also should not produce bad effects on body systems like organization, blood and immunity and so on. Therefore, biomedical materials must have following properties.
First, biomedical materials must have biocompatibility. Biocompatibility refers to the capacity that properties of biomedical materials have useful effect along with adapting reactions of the host. After biomedical material contacts with biosystem, on the one hand, the material is affected by the physiological environment, it could cause the material to degrade or change on properties; on the other hand, the material could influence the surrounding tissues and even the whole organism, causing bad reactions. Therefore, biomedical material must have biocompatibility.
Second, biomedical material should have mechanical property. Some of biomedical materials will be made as acceptable organs for organisms finally, so these Amalgam Capsule must be compatible with organic texture on mechanical property. The compatibility of mechanism does not require that mechanical property must be high, and it depends on how much stress it can endure, and it must match with relevant replaced tissues.
Third, biomedical material should have associative property with tissues. This kind of associative property could be the mechanical union formed on the transplantation surface where the tissue can not grow by itself, and it can also be the chemical bond combination formed because of the chemical reaction between transplanted materials and physiological environment.
Fourth, biomedical material should have biological aging resistance property. Biomedical materials should have good chemical stability inside the living bodies so that it can be used for a long time, namely, biomedical material should have biological corrosion resistance and biological aging resistance while playing its medical functions.
Biomedical material should be used more and more in the future with the help of advanced technology. For more information about, you can visit our website(www.cisri-int.com) and please feel free to contact us.
